Stakeholder Advocacy Visit on Climate Change and Women with Disabilities Neil Life Foundation for Persons with Disabilities conducted a stakeholder advocacy visit to raise awareness about the disproportionate effects of climate change on women and girls with disabilities. The visit provided an opportunity to engage relevant stakeholders on the importance of disability-inclusive climate action, disaster preparedness, and adaptation strategies.

Climate change affects everyone, but its impact is not experienced equally.

For women with disabilities, climate-related disasters such as floods, extreme heat, and other environmental changes can create additional barriers to safety, health, mobility, and access to essential services. Yet, their voices are often missing from conversations and decisions about climate action.

As part of our commitment to advancing disability inclusion and climate justice, Neil Life Foundation for Persons with Disabilities embarked on a stakeholder advocacy visit to engage key stakeholders on the experiences and needs of women with disabilities in the face of climate change.

During the visit, we shared concerns around inaccessible early-warning systems, difficulties accessing evacuation and emergency services, limited access to climate information, and the exclusion of women with disabilities from climate-related decision-making.

The engagement was more than a conversation; it was a call for action.

We advocated for climate policies and disaster-response mechanisms that intentionally include persons with disabilities and ensure that women with disabilities are not treated as an afterthought when climate solutions are being designed.

Through collaboration with stakeholders, we hope to strengthen inclusive climate action, amplify the voices of women with disabilities, and build communities where everyone has the knowledge, resources, and opportunity to adapt and thrive in a changing climate.

Climate justice cannot be achieved without disability inclusion.
